Delegate registration for April 5-6 trip to Madison now open; agenda ideas and sponsors sought

Door Kewaunee Legislative Days 2017 is pleased to invite local citizens to join us in our mission to call on every legislator in Madison this spring. Door Kewaunee Legislative Days main events are scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, when delegates will call on state legislators in the afternoon and enjoy a reception with legislators and guests that evening. The remainder of the April 5-6 event will be reserved for visiting with state officials and selected state agencies.

Critical to the success of this event is the active participation of at least 100 Door and Kewaunee County citizen representatives, so that at least one local delegate will visit with every legislator. The cost to participate for delegates is only $30, made possible by a variety of area financial sponsors. The subsidized fee includes three meals and a logo polo shirt. Training sessions will be held prior to the event, so anyone can participate. Anyone interested in participating in Legislative Days can register at http://www.dklegislativedays.com/register/ no later than Wednesday, March 1.

Additional sponsors are needed to help offset some of the event costs so the individual delegate costs can continue to be kept to a minimum.  Please consider signing on as a sponsor for this important event.

Door/Kewaunee Legislative Days will be headquartered at the newly refurbished Best Western Premier Park Hotel (formerly the Inn on The Park) on Capitol Square in downtown Madison. Most scheduled meetings and meals will be held at either Premier Park Hotel, the Tommy Thompson Commerce Building (201 West Washington) or at the State Capitol, which is located just across the street from the hotel.

Hotel reservations are the individual participant’s responsibility. A room block has been reserved at the Premier Park Hotel for the group rate of $129 for traditional rooms, $139 for deluxe rooms, and $169 for suites, per room per night. The group rate is only available until March 4, 2017. For reservations, call 608-285-8000 and let them know you are part of the “Door Kewaunee Legislative Days” group.

Legislative Days Steering Committee Chairman Caleb Frostman stated: “The logistics and details for Door Kewaunee Legislative Days 2017 are coming together very well. As this is our eighth trip to Madison, we have been able to improve the event to the point that we are confident this will be the best and most productive Legislative Days yet. The greatest need we have now is for delegates. We need at least 100 Door and Kewaunee County delegates to effectively call on all legislators.”

A volunteer committee is working to develop the 2017 legislative and state agency agenda topics and issues that will be presented in Madison.
